Summer Makeup Essentials

Hello readers!

Summer is finally upon us, and with it comes a complete change in makeup style - for me at least! My makeup will usually reflect the seasons an the weather, so in summer I tend to go for brighter, bronzier looks. And in this post, I'll be sharing some of my summer favourites with you!

Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

This is one of my all time favourite foundations, but I definitely get more use out of it in the summer. The one pictured above is in the shade Santa Fe, which is one of the medium shades. This is the colour I wear when I have either been on holiday or I have put on some fake tan!

The foundation itself is extremely lightweight, but has excellent coverage (I'm definitely a full coverage type of girl). It dries matte very quickly, but has a lovely silky finish, making my skin look and feel amazing! The shade range is perfect too - I mix Santa Fe with the same foundation in the shade Mont Blanc to tailor it to my current stage of fake tan, and it mixes absolutely perfectly. I've also mixed it with Nars Sheer Glow before to get more of a satin finish and a more dewy look, and it mixes incredibly well.

The Body Shop Wonderblur Primer

I am really not a primer girl - I don't have particularly oily skin, and I find that my Nars foundations last really well on my skin anyway. However, in the summer months when it's a bit more humid, my skin can get a touch more oily, and I've noticed that my makeup simply doesn't last as long as I would like, particularly when I need it to stay looking fresh for 9+ hours while I'm at work in a greenhouse of a building! This recent discovery in my makeup bag has quickly become a top favourite, and makes my makeup last all day, and my skin look amazing.

Benefit Erase Paste

This is one of my saviours all year round - perfect if you, like me, have absolutely ghastly under-eye bags! Unfortunately now that I've reached the grand old age of 24 (quarter-life crisis definitely looming) my under-eye bags seem to be a permanent feature of my visage! So to cover them up as best I can I use my Benefit Erase Paste every day underneath my regular brightening concealer (current fave - Mac Prolonger concealer shade NW15). A little bit goes a long way with this product, and it really is incredible - you notice the difference straight away. You can even wear it on it's own; I do this on lazy days/good skin days where I don't fancy wearing much makeup - I just do my brows, pop a bit of Erase Paste under my eyes and shove on some mascara and I'm good to go!

For anyone wondering, mine is in the shade 'Fair'.

Mac Girl About Town Lipstick

This is one of my absolute favourite summer lipsticks! A fairly blue toned bright pink, and looks amazing with a tan! It's an Amplified shade, so it's really creamy and pigmented, but the staying power is amazing considering how creamy it is. I can eat and drink and it won't budge. I use it with Mac's Prolonger Lip Liner in More To Love.

However I must say that this really doesn't suit me when I am as pale as I normally am (for reference, my natural skin tone is Nars Shade Mont Blanc/Mac Shade NW15), so if you're naturally pale like me, either wear this after your holiday or accessorise it with a bomb fake tan! I particularly love this shade for holidays - I wore it non-stop in Greece last year.

Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser

Love this stuff so much! I have to be honest, the thought of a SPRAY ON moisturiser baffled me completely and led me to trying this, I hadn't read any reviews beforehand, and didn't need to - this stuff is literally geniuses in a bottle. Not the richest moisturiser ever but for me that's good - it has good moisture levels without feeling like I have a thick heavy slather of cream on. It soaks into the skin really quickly, and just means that I can use it every single day on the go and not have to worry about waiting half an hour for it to dry before I can put clothes on! It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and in the summer that is definitely what you want!

I have done a separate review on this amazing product which will be on the blog in a few days so keep your eyes peeled, and follow me on Twitter for updates :)

Well that was a fairly long post so it's time to say tata for now! I hope you enjoyed it, let me know in the comments what your summer essentials are!
